Electrical and Controls Engineering & Design

Electrical engineering and design is one component of most of our multi-disciplined projects. Our firm provides electrical power, instrumentation, and controls engineering for our utility and industrial clients. Our experience as a UL 508A and 698A certified industrial control panel fabrication shop, along with PLC programming, provide our firm with the knowledge to properly integrate the mechanical aspects of a project with the electrical and control components of a modern oil and gas transportation, storage and measurement facility. This includes the design of electrical power and remote control circuits for: Electrically Driven Motor Powered Pumps and Compressors, Electrically Driven Motor Operated Valves, Pneumatically Actuated Valves, Flow Control and Pressure Control Valves, Intrinsically Safe Instrumentation and Circuit Design, Electrical Area Classification Determination, Equipment Selection and Circuit Design, Gas and Liquid Measurement Device Instruments, Gas and Liquid Flow Computers, Meter Calibration Equipment, Gas Chromatographs and their Integration into Measurement Systems, Pressure and Temperature Monitoring Instruments, Density Measurement Equipment, Level Sensing, Level Measurement and Level Control Systems, Telecommunications Equipment Integration, Ethernet Communication Local Area Network Device Communications and Coordination, Facility Electrical Transformation Equipment, Area Lighting Circuits and Remotely/Automatically Controlled Lighting Systems, Uninterruptable Power Supplies and Battery Backup Systems (control system power), Backup Electrical Power Generating Units, Medium Voltage (1 kV to 35 kV) Overhead Powerline Electrical Distribution Systems, Medium Voltage Electrical Distribution Equipment, Medium Voltage to Low Voltage (less than 600 V) Electrical Distribution, Grounding Systems, and DC Powered and Controlled Equipment.

Our experience with pipeline control system technology includes the development of a patented pipeline excavation safety system called TripWire®. This fiber optic-based system is buried above a pipeline and connected to instrumentation that alerts an operator in the event of an excavation event over a pipeline. This alarm provides the operator with location-specific data to immediately dispatch personnel to the site of the unauthorized excavation and to safely shut down a pipeline to mitigate any potential indicate arising from the unauthorized excavation.
