Midway-Sunset Produced Water Pipeline.

EDM Services was engaged in the Midway Sunset Westside Produced Water Project, collaborating with a major North American Exploration Company.

Project Overview:

This project involved the engineering and design of a 12-inch, 8.3-mile produced water pipeline, adhering to ASME B31.4 specifications. The objective of the project was to enhance produced water management in the oil field, obviating the need for open impoundments. The pipeline design was engineered to meet the requirements of ANSI 600# Class flanges, at temperatures of 170°F, and operating pressures up to 1,396 psig.

Our Contribution:

EDM Services was at the forefront of the project engineering and design, providing multidisciplinary engineering support services, including:
General Engineering Support: The firm provided a detailed project design basis and project management support.
Process Engineering: Our team developed P&ID(s) for the new pipeline, calculated pipeline sizes, and designed relief valves according to relevant industry specifications.
Pipeline Engineering: Our pipeline routing plan was designed to traverse complex road and stream bed crossings. The project team researched substructures and managed the drawings, mapping, and alignment conflicts for third-party services. Pipeline surge calculations were done to ensure system stability. Profile drawings were completed including preliminary bulk material take-offs (MTO) for pipes, valves, and fittings. A pipe stress analysis and comprehensive report were also provided to support the project.
Civil and Structural Engineering: This work included civil site layout, structural engineering calculations, and detailed design drawings for pipe supports and pipe racks meeting industry design standards and the California Building Code.
Procurement Support: Our role included creating technical purchase specifications, conducting thorough inspections, and setting strict testing and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) requirements to ensure high-quality materials were used.

The Path Forward:

Our completed design deliverables reflect our dedication to quality. We are committed to delivering professional engineering, permitting, procurement, quality control, and project management services of the highest quality to our clients.
